The Leaders Circle was initiated in March 2006. Since then, we have been coming together once or twice a year to reflect, to learn from each other, and to build a community of leaders who care about Kenya and its future. In March 2026, The Leaders Circle will turn 20 years old – a milestone that truly deserves to be celebrated.

What emerged for our upcoming event is the following storytelling theme:

“I am because you are – The power of intergenerational dialogues in my life.”

It is about the role of Gen Z in Kenya – their hopes, frustrations, creativity, and responsibility in shaping the country’s future. And it is about our role in supporting the transformation that Kenya needs. With this theme, we want to explore intergenerational dialogue in our lives, in our organisations, and in our country. As always, we will share our personal stories. We are also looking forward to sharing our intergenerational stories, and the younger ones will inspire us to see how we can rejuvenate The Leaders Circle, bringing in younger leaders while staying true to our spirit.

One small thought experiment has been guiding our reflections. Imagine a person who is 85 years old in 2025. When this person was 5, an 80‑year‑old played with them (born around 1880). Now, at 85, they meet a 5‑year‑old child and play together. This child will be 80 years old in 2105. In the life of a single person, people spanning 225 years can meet, touch each other’s lives, and pass on something that matters.

This, in a way, is what The Leaders Circle has always been about: connecting experiences across generations, sectors, and backgrounds so that something important can be passed on and renewed.
